Keljänpuro Lodge is where all our activities usually start. We gather at the Lodge for briefing and coffee before going to the hides. There are rooms for accommodation in the main building and in two other buildings in the area. Two saunas are also located at Keljänpuro. Some of the photography hides are in the nearby forest, only a short walking distance from the Lodge.
Keljänpuro is located outside the electricity grid, but electricity is produced for the lodge with the help of solar panels. Our own production enables the charging of small devices that need power, such as camera batteries and mobile phones. We have Wi-Fi and usually the connection is good.
Animals sometimes move around the yard around the Lodge. You may well catch a glimpse of, say, a wolverine or a bear while looking out the Lodge’s window. Especially in the winter time, it is possible to see a variety of smaller and sometimes larger birds at the bird feeding area. We have a bird feeding area at the yard where you can spot several small and larger bird species and red squirrels.
The forest photography hides are located about 300-400m from the Lodge. You can leave your car in the parking lot in the courtyard of the Lodge and walk to the hides along the forest path. Animals can move quite close to the hides, so you can also photograph animals with wide-angle lenses in addition to a telephoto lenses. At twilight, wide aperture is an advantage, but in the summer, pictures are usually successful with slightly smaller apertures.
